It's easiest to think of your online business as having two components. One is the website itself - a traffic converter; the second is internet marketing - traffic generators. While web copywriting is the primary element of traffic conversion (to close more sales), traffic generators are those things that drive traffic to your website.

However, some internet marketing tactics, such as email marketing, video marketing, and marketing articles, are both converters and generators. They convert traffic by priming your reader, educating them, earning your respect and trust, and fostering a relationship ... and they generate traffic because by then, your reader is more likely to click to your site for more information.

There are hundreds of thousands of ways to generate traffic - such as building links and submitting articles and press releases to 3rd party sites, participating in social networking sites, blogs, etc. (Web 2.0 ,marketing), mixing in some pay-per-click advertising, banner ads for affiliate marketing and reciprocal site marketing, and offline advertising.

Even with the best SEO and traffic coming to your site, the fact is that less than 5% will actually buy on the first visit. Therefore, it is critical to KEEP them interested and coming back for more information and more reasons to buy from you.
